At Drew, the Arts aren’t an afterthought.

Art is everywhere at Drew, and for good reason. We believe creative practice is essential to personal growth, self-expression, and community connection. In fact, arts are part of our core curriculum with two years required and many of our students participating for four years in visual art, music or performing arts.

In our arts programs, students work across media — from music and sculpture to photography and improv, in order to explore ideas, experiment with materials, and share stories that matter. They learn how artistic choices shape meaning, and how to use their creative voices with purpose and confidence.

Gallery shows, screenings, performances, and pop-up exhibits throughout the year let students’ work shine and celebrate creativity in all its forms.

Visual Arts

Self-directed exploration is at the core of our visual arts program, supported by expert faculty who guide students through iterative creative processes; experimenting, revising, and discovering how materials communicate message, meaning, and mood.

Whether working in painting, sculpture, sewing, photography, film, or something entirely new, students shape projects that reflect their own ideas and voices.

Performing Arts

Our performing arts classes are studios for experimentation and self-expression. From spoken word and physical theater to music and broadcast media, these courses prioritize student identity, voice, and collaboration over perfection or tradition.

You’ll explore how performance connects people and dive into the roots, history, and context of the cultural forms that speak to you. You’ll also help shape the direction of your ensemble, learning through authentic practice, creative risk-taking, and shared goals.

Co-Curricular Productions

Participating in the Drew play and musical is a dynamic way to experience the joy of collaborative storytelling, where every voice contributes to something greater than the sum of its parts. You’ll also grow your skills in being seen, heard, and understood, both on stage and off.

At Drew, our shows are less about playing a role and more about finding your voice and understanding someone else’s.
