Salvador Acevedo

Salvador Acevedo is Managing Partner at Scansion, a design strategy consulting based in San Francisco. He has over 20 years of experience helping organizations link their design and innovation strategies with various cultures within the US. Being bilingual and bicultural gives him the ability to recognize the cultural markers that signal inclusion, and he’s committed to open opportunities for all. For the last 15 years, he’s been professionally invested in helping organizations increase diversity, deepen inclusion, and advancing equity, in a broad range of fields, from arts & culture to informal education and urban planning.

Salvador is founding member of the Emerging Leaders of Color network created by the Western States Arts Federation (WESTAF) with the goal of increasing POC leadership in policy and arts administration. He's served at the Independent Adoption Center' Board, where he was instrumental in increasing the organization’s cultural competence. More recently, he joined the Board of Creativity Explored, an arts organization which is focused on working with people with physical and cognitive differences.

Salvador is passionate about Drew’s mission, specifically the synergy among developing our own voices, the confidence to express them, and the empathy to understand their impact. He brings his life experience as a professional, a parent, and a bicultural person to Drew’s Board, and more specifically his knowledge and sensitivity around DEIA values.

Mr. Acevedo holds a degree in psychology from Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico, and another in communication from Universidad Iberoamericana, both in Mexico City. Mr. Acevedo is a regular speaker at conferences on DEIA topics and is a TED Talk speaker with the talk I’m Mestizo. His family was created through adoption and both he and his wife are immigrants from Mexico. His two daughters attend Drew, classes of 2022 and 2024, where they’re actively exploring the richness and complexity of their diverse identities.
