At Drew School, the Climate Academy offers a one-of-a-kind interdisciplinary opportunity for 9th graders. It accomplishes this by bridging the World History and Biology courses with a central focus on environmental concerns, climate change, and climate action. While preserving the essential content and skills of conventional courses, this program delves deep into topics such as biological adaptation, the human footprint on Earth, and the practical application of knowledge in safeguarding our planet. Through intellectual exploration, students delve into historical trends, biological adaptations, and sustainable solutions. Furthermore, the course places a strong emphasis on action through interdisciplinary service projects, empowering students to apply their knowledge towards tangible real-world changes.

Recently, the students had the opportunity to embark on a field trip to the Presidio, specifically Mountain Lake Park and El Polin Spring, where they conducted investigations into both positive and negative human impacts on the natural environment.

These students are catalysts for social change, actively working to develop meaningful solutions to climate change.
