Quadratic Functions

Students in Marian Ferrara's Geometry class work in small groups and as individuals to build their fluency with quadratics as they focus on the maximum/minimum point as well as domain and range.
Geometry is the study of one, two, and three-dimensional objects and their transformations in space. Students use inductive reasoning to formulate conjectures with regards to spatial relationships. After developing an understanding of the laws of logic, students utilize deductive reasoning to systematically prove these conjectures building an axiomatic system rich with theorems. Students not only develop the reasoning skills necessary to navigate through axiomatic systems but are also exposed to the utility of geometry in the world around them. Investigations of properties of figures take place on the coordinate plane, as well as in space, where students integrate the utility of algebra in representing geometric properties.
