Monologues

9th-graders in Amelia Stewart's Theater Workshop class perform contemporary monologues for an audience of family and friends. Students demonstrated their growth in the areas of character development, vocal technique, and physical acting while adding the additional element of an audience.
Theater Workshop provides an introductory exploration of the dramatic arts with an emphasis on basic acting technique through text work and improvisation. Class exercises focus on imaginative play, proper vocal production, and physical acting. Particular emphasis will be given to character development, text analysis, collaboration, and building self-confidence. This course will also examine the roles of various theater artists: actors, directors, designers, and playwrights.
