This weekend, the Model UN students represented Drew at UC Davis Model United Nations Conference, a fully immersive conference for high school students across the nation. They participated in crises committees, where they had to come up with resolutions to a range of issues including economic turmoil, alien invasions, and the defense of the Death Star in Star Wars. Congratulations on a job well done!
This past Thursday, the visual art students hosted a gallery walk to showcase their best artwork from the semester. The evening also celebrated our performing artists as they took the stage for their final performances of the year. A special congratulations to all the artists of the Class of 2023!
Drew held an assembly honoring senior athletes who will be following their sport to the next level. Bring Change to Mind’s (BC2M's) 3rd annual Wellness Summit took place on Thursday, May 4. The Wellness Summit is an opportunity for our community to reflect on health and wellness, with the hopes of normalizing and de-stigmatizing conversations on mental health and wellbeing.
With ASB (Associated Student Body) campaigns around the corner and applications for leadership roles due on April 14, 10th and 11th graders had the opportunity to learn more about how they can take on leadership roles in the Drew community.

This past Thursday, we hosted DEALLFest, an all-school and all day event to celebrate and share our learning outcomes from DEALL week with the community. Each DEALL program prepared and hosted a 45-minute interactive workshop that engaged the school community in their program’s learning outcome.
While many students spent last week relaxing on spring break, the Drew Robotics Team was hard at work as they competed in the FIRST Robotics Silicon Valley Regional Competition. This event “combines the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology…Under strict rules, limited resources and time constraints.”

Last week was the start of the APIDA (Asian Pacific Islander Desi American) and BSU (Black Student Union) collaboration. Day 1 of the collaboration was focused on building a connection between clubs.

This past Thursday, the Service Coalition hosted a fair during lunch for students and faculty. It featured a variety of activities, including goodie-bag-making for children facing life-threatening illness and ashtray decorating to put around the city.
The Advanced Studio class went on a field trip last week to the Asian Art Museum to see the work of Hodaka Yoshida, a Japanese modernist artist who was known for his woodblock printing.
Each year, the San Francisco Collaborative against Human Trafficking holds a poster contest to promote importance of addressing human trafficking, and each year the Advanced Studio students participate in this competition. Congratulations to this year's award winners: Lailey, Zax and Xiara!
Every Thursday, students in the “Tutoring with Cobb” Experiential Elective head down the block to Dr. William L. Cobb Elementary school to work with one of their 1st grade classes.
The P7 Chemistry class is learning the structure of molecules by using marshmallows, toothpicks and gummy bears! Each structure represents a certain molecule to get a better understanding of how they are different.
From February 17-20, students from the Shanti Alliance, Drew’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) student leadership group, attended the annual conference in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi. This year’s theme was “Ma Ka Hana Ka ʻIke,” or “The Knowledge is in Doing the Work.”

In ASL 3, students practice their sign language abilities by using ASLtube - a tool often used in the classroom to put lecture material into practice. This lesson focused on vocabulary related to the workplace, specifically interview preparation.
As students prepare for the 415, the APIDA club practices to perform a lion and dragon dance. In Chinese culture the dragon symbolizes wisdom, power, and wealth.

Physics students are currently working on a lab to explore the friction (or Mu) of a shoe as it moves along a floor. The key question for the lab is: How much friction exists between your shoe and the ground?
After several months of practice and preparation, Drew’s inaugural Mock Trial team competed in their capstone competition this past Sunday in a round robin scrimmage.

Drew and Pollyanna hosted the first Charles Vogl community event - Building Campfires - over the weekend, with representatives from 10 bay area schools in attendance.
The 8 Houses of Drew kicked off the semester with a series of challenges requiring creativity, teamwork, and/or lateral thinking abilities. From LSAT word problems to marshmallow & noodle tower-building, these groups competed against each other to see which house would come out on top.
Drew knows and believes in teenagers. We engage each student in a process of intellectual discovery to develop an individual voice, the confidence to express it, and the empathy to understand its impact.
