Drew School is an independent, urban high school in San Francisco enrolling 280 students in grades 9 through 12. Drew engages each student in a process of intellectual discovery to develop an individual voice, the confidence to express it, and the empathy to understand its impact.

  • Maternity Leave English Position 2019-2020

    Position Overview
    Drew School is looking for a full-time maternity leave English Faculty position for the spring of the 2019-2020 school year. Anticipated start date is January 6, 2020. This full-time teacher is expected to teach four classes and participate in all departmental and curricular planning meetings. The current teaching needs are for English 1, English 2, English 3, and English 3 Honors, and is between 80-100% full-time depending on interests and availability. 

    We are seeking an educator with teaching experience in all levels of high school English and who has familiarity with the culture of independent school. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching a wide range of abilities. The Drew faculty is collegial and collaborative, and we look to bring in candidates who are interested in working with the English Department on developing curriculum and who want a supportive school community. 

    Duties and Responsibilities 80%
    • Teach four classes
    Additional Duties - Subject to interests and availability
    • Lead Tuesday and Thursday Experiential Electives
    • Advise a student advising group 
    • Lead an approved Drew Education for Active Lifelong Learning (DEALL) week experience
    • Lead or actively participate in a student club activity
    Ideal Qualifications
    • Has a commitment to the mission of the school
    • Has at minimum a B.A. in English, M.A. preferred 
    • Has experience teaching at an independent high school 
    • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with recent best practices in English instruction
    • Experience in curriculum development 
    • Has experience working with students with learning differences and has the ability to work and differentiate within the classroom
    • Enjoys working with teenagers
    • Is self-reflective and growth-minded
    • Has the ability to collaborate with adults and students
    • Is culturally competent and a practitioner of equity and inclusion
    • Has the ability to maintain standards of professionalism

  • Maternity Leave Math Position 2019-2020

    Position Overview
    Drew School is looking to fill a full-time maternity leave Math Faculty position for the spring of the 2019-2020 school year. Anticipated start date is January 6, 2020. The current position includes the teaching of Geometry and Calculus and is between 80-100% full-time depending on interests and availability. 

    We are seeking an educator with teaching experience in high school math who has familiarity with the culture of independent schools. We are also seeking someone who can teach all levels of high school mathematics, and has the ability to teach students with a variety of learning styles and aptitudes.

    Our math program places a strong emphasis on student-centered, hands-on learning, and we value creativity and real-world application of math principles. The Drew faculty is collegial and collaborative, and we look to bring in candidates who are interested in working with the Math Department on developing curriculum and others in cross-disciplinary projects.

    • Able to teach all levels of math from Algebra 1 through Calculus and Statistics

    • Is self-reflective and growth-minded
    • Has the ability to collaborate with adults and students
    • Is culturally competent and a practitioner of equity and inclusion
    • Has the ability to maintain standards of professionalism
