As COVID-19 swept across our collective consciousness and forced us to all learn the definition - and realities - of “social distancing,” it became clear that we are more than 290 students and 60 faculty/staff in 25 classrooms. We are the Drew Community and we are dedicated, innovative, nimble, creative and highly motivated to support each other and ensure that our mission and values continue to be lived regardless of our physical proximity to one another.
As the new financial realities are settling in all around us, we recognized the need to act swiftly to maintain access to our programs as well as continue to provide a quality Drew academic curriculum. Therefore, we have established the Dragon Roars Fund to support our community during this year in which we are seeing unprecedented levels of uncertainty and unexpected costs.
We're delighted to share that the Board has donated $150,000 to launch the Dragon Roars Fund
(see below) to help address the needs of our community. If you would like to participate in supporting the fund, please click the button below, or you can give during Dragon Spirit
, our Virtual Community Fundraising event on April 23rd. Every new gift to the Dragon Roars Fund will be counted towards our $300,000 challenge gift

With little over two week’s notice, our Faculty recreated the Drew experience for an online format. We are so proud of their creativity and determination to provide a quality Drew education and anchor our students in consistency despite the world rapidly changing around them. At the same time, we are experiencing financial pressure due to the cancellation of several of our key spring activities including DEALL and the spring fundraiser, paired with an increase in requests for financial aid. Yet we are committed to providing every bit of our Drew program despite these losses and challenges. This requires additional resources to fund evolving needs including:
Honoring commitments to faculty and staff through the end of the year
Assisting families experiencing financial constraints due to the current crisis
Providing professional development and covering program costs related to Drew’s Online Learning Plan
Updating technology, including additional equipment and hotspots for faculty and families
Covering incremental costs including industrial cleaning of Drew facilities
Providing for unrestricted funds to weather unknown economic hardships that may linger beyond the current crisis
