Jack Pine '21, a current sophomore at Pitzer College, was recently interviewed on PBS Newshour for his involvement in Pitzer’s Inside-Out program. In this program, prisoners are given the opportunity to take classes towards earning a BA while they are “inside,” and “outside” college students (like Jack) take the same courses in the same classrooms from the same professors and are all held to the same standards.

Jack said the class has “played a critical role in developing a sense of empathy for the prisoners” and has humanized his fellow classmates while “pushing and expanding [his] boundaries and perspectives.” Click here to watch and learn more about the program (32:30) and hear from Jack (39:30).
