Families of Color Welcome Dinner

Drew was delighted to welcome students, families, faculty and staff to this year’s Families of Color Welcome Dinner.
On August 31, Drew was delighted to welcome students, families, faculty and staff to this year’s Families of Color Welcome Dinner. David Frankenberg, the Head of School, welcomed the community and linked Drew’s approach to Equity and Inclusion to our mission to support students in finding their voice. Alain Sykes, the Dean of Equity and Social Impact, introduced Drew’s DEIB work over the past two years and upcoming opportunities, including student programs and the continuation of faculty and staff work on equity, inclusion, and belonging. There were a variety of table-talk prompts that had the community laughing and sharing their stories. The evening concluded as the attendees created a human chain that showed where they are from–a wide range of beloved homes that ranges from San Francisco, to Mexico, to Venezuela, to the mid-Western and Eastern American states, Canada, the Philippines, Hong Kong, and Pakistan. This is a powerful demonstration of the diversity that is integral to the Drew Community. We look forward to gathering again during the second semester!

Become part of the Drew Dynamic!

Drew knows and believes in teenagers. We engage each student in a process of intellectual discovery to develop an individual voice, the confidence to express it, and the empathy to understand its impact.
