Design an original mix: Learn the Art of Digital Djing
Students will record an original mix, there are potentially other options involving a skills demo or something as well.
If you ever had a desire to be like Flume, Marshmello, The Chainsmokers, Dj Snake or Jazzy Jeff, this is the DEALL for you. This DEALL offering is all about learning how to mix music live and become a Dj. Using high quality equipment and professional level software, students will learn fundamental skills about mixing and live performance. Topics covered will include the following: setting up equipment, understanding the functionality of a mixer, preparing song for performance, how to use song structure / phrasing to seamlessly mix, and different transition types. By the end of the week, students should have enough understanding to record their own 20 - 30 min original mix. All skill levels are welcome and specialty equipment will be provided. Students must provide a pair of wired headphones with a 1/8" jack and a pair of speakers that can be plugged into with either RCA (red/white) or a typical headphone jack.
