College Counseling
Drew focuses on the personal success and attributes of each individual, and all aspects of a student’s Drew career are taken into consideration while looking into colleges and life after Drew. Drew’s approach to the college counseling process is tailored to each student’s needs and goals. We encourage students to strive for the most competitive and challenging college options, while understanding that some students have interests that can be best served through non-traditional post-graduate education. As a result of the extensive support and preparation available to each student, the college application process at Drew tends to be a time of discovery and excitement, rather than a time of anxiety.
The College Counseling office has an open-door policy, encouraging students to stop by simply to say hello or to ask specific questions. In addition to one-on-one personal meetings with the college counselor, a team of faculty advisors supports the college process. Junior and senior advisors meet once per week in small groups of eight to ten insuring an informative and attentive approach to applying to colleges or other educational programs.
Drew utilizes Naviance to help acquaint Drew students and families with every component of the college application process. The database is accessible from any computer with Internet access. Drew also has a significant College Counseling resource section in its library available to all students.
Robert Kostrzeski, Drew’s college counselor regularly attends professional meetings and workshops, as well as local, state and national conferences. Drew is a member of the NACAC (National Association of College Admission Counselors), WACAC (Western Association of College Admission Counselors), and BAISCC (Bay Area Independent Schools College Counselors).
